Yes, there’s always more. Now that the bootcamp’s over its time for that critical next step…GET A JOB! Yes, the coming days and weeks will be focused on the exhaustive job hunt for that great role as a data scientist/analyst/engineer/shaman or whatever other crazy title companies refer to their data scientists as these days.

As much of a process as it is, it is exciting! This is what I came into this whole journey for, a fresh start, a chance to put my experience and talents to work in a new and dynamic environment. An opportunity to leverage data in fun and creative ways, develop exciting new products that help people, innovate new ways to conduct business, or help solve the world’s social, economic and geopolitical problems.

Certainly it won’t be easy, but I’m confident the right opportunity will come along, and I’m confident that the combination of past experience and everything new I’ve learned over the past 12 weeks will help me seize that opportunity. Until then, there’s plenty to keep me busy. Most of it centering around newly elected NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson’s favorite topic…PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

Among the things on the To-Do List:

  • Job Search, then job search some more
  • Networking, Meetups, etc.
  • Finish uploading project files and organizing my Github repo
  • In Blog We Trust
  • Coding challenges
  • SQL and NoSQL practice (sounds like an oxymoron)
  • Machine Learning review
  • Topics in Big Data and Distributed Computing (Hadoop, Spark, etc.)

See there’s always more to do, and the learning is never done. As Data Scientists, we all have an unlimited fare card on the proverbial subway system of Data Science, see below.

There's no express train here, the Data Science subway makes all stops
